Pittsfield Charter Twp, Michigan

Community Recreation Center Study Underway

The Pittsfield Community Center/Senior Center building at State and Ellsworth is aging, and the need for a new facility is clear. The Park Commission reviewed the possible renovation of the existing structure a number of years ago. The cost of renovation was expected to exceed a million dollars. The Township has since begun to consider building a new, centrally located Community Recreation Center, with facilities for all residents--seniors and teens included.

A needs assessment study is currently underway, at the same time as a needs assessment for a new Public Safety headquarters. The Township is planning to locate both facilities on the portion of the Pittsfield Preserve that is adjacent to Michigan Ave., in the public utility service district, and near the existing Township Administration Building. As plans are developed, community input sessions will be held. Stay tuned for more information on these exciting projects!
