2007 Photo Contest Winners

Winners in the 2007 Photo Contest received their awards at a regular meeting of the Pittsfield Natural Resources Commission. Photos were judged in three categories, with a first, second, and third prize in each and a Grand Prize overall.

In the contest category, Native Plants and Animals in Pittsfield, the Overall Grand Prize/Category First Prize winner was Ann O’Hagan, for her close-up, “Bloodroot Blooming in Montibeller Park.” Second Prize went to “Baby Robin,” taken by Beth Ballbach. David Sigmon’s action shot, “Great White Egret in Bridgefield Estates Pond,” earned Third Prize.

In the category, Coolest Tree in Pittsfield, Nat Girish won First Prize with his portrayal, “Heritage Tree in the Pittsfield Preserve.” Deanna Vollano’s “Ice Storm Treetop in Prairie Park” took Second Prize, and Third Prize went to “Maple Colors in My Pittsfield Back Yard,” by Beth Ballbach.

Pittsfield Parks was the subject for the third contest category, with First Prize going to “Spider Web in Prairie Park,” by Deanna Vollano. Ann O’Hagan swept Second and Third Prizes with “Pond Reflection in MarshView Meadows Park,” and “Cattail In the Grip of Winter,” taken in Lillie Park.

David SigmonHonorable mentions went to Bill White, Debra Destefani, John Ballbach, and Carolyn McLean.

Deciding among some 40 entries challenged the volunteer judges, who were Don Werthman, Washtenaw Community College, MaryCarol Hunter, University of Michigan, and Professors Gary Hannan and Annie Hannan, Eastern Michigan University Biology Department.
