This body was established in the early 1960’s to advise and to make recommendations to the Board of Trustees regarding planning and zoning issues. The areas of planning and zoning generally deal with the question of how land in the Township is to be used. The Planning Commission makes recommendations also on zoning ordinance text amendments, zoning map amendments, proposed rezonings and preliminary plats. One of the most important responsibilities of the Planning Commission is the development and periodic revision of the Comprehensive Plan . The Comprehensive Plan lays out projected zoning, land uses, and infrastructure development within the Township. This document along with the Zoning Ordinance, Subdivision Ordinance and Land Development Standards are used by the Planning Commission, Township staff, and Board of Trustees as a guide during the review process of any rezoning or plan submitted.
This Commission has seven members, each serving 3-year terms. The Township Supervisor appoints the members subject to approval by the Board of Trustees. State statute requires that one commissioner be a member of the Board of Trustees and that all members be registered electors and residents.
The members of the Planning Commission are:
- Wilma Luna, Chair
- Kathie Mahn, Vice Chair
- Maria Constant, Secretary
- Jeffrey Patton
- John Norton
- Richard Plisko
- Christina Lirones (Treasurer)
